J. R. Moehringer is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author. He spent much of his career at the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times, winning the Pulitzer for Feature Writing in 2000. The Tender Bar, published in 2005, was his debut memoir and won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. He is also the ghostwriter of Andre Agassi's memoir Open and Prince Harry's Spare, both of which are widely admired for their literary quality. He has said that the act of writing The Tender Bar was necessary before he could help other people tell their stories. He lives in California.
