His earlier books include The Great Stagnation and Average Is Over. Daniel Gross is a venture capitalist, entrepreneur, and investor who has backed several successful technology companies. He was previously a partner at Y Combinator. Both Cowen and Gross are known for their systematic approach to evaluating people and ideas in domains where conventional credentials are unreliable guides.
