Michelle Obama served as First Lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017, during the two-term presidency of Barack Obama. Before the White House, she was a lawyer and public sector executive in Chicago, including as Vice President for Community and External Affairs at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Her first memoir, Becoming (2018), became one of the best-selling memoirs in history. She has been a prominent advocate for education, veterans' families, and healthy eating through the Let's Move campaign. The Light We Carry was published in 2022.
